For my very romantic Valentine’s day I decided to play a gig and perform all of my most heartbreak-ridden tunes. Please come on down and join me crying in to my beer. The deets:

The Phoenix, 37 Cavendish Square, London W1G 0PP
Open Mic kicks off circa 7PM with featured artists, like me, circa 9PM.

Tomorrow night I’ve got my first gig of 2010 at Powers (it’s here) in Kilburn. After the shitty illness that made me cancel gigs in January, I have more-or-less got my voice back and I will be test driving a couple of new tunes.

We found this slipped under our door one morning after an impromptu Thursday night Spotify session.

I am a big fan of my neighbours’ critical opinion. I won’t offer much defense other than that our music selection was exceptional and I was on my way to work when I found it.

First gig of 2010

20th January, 9:30PM @ The Lockside Lounge, Camden Market, NW1 8AF
UPDATE: Due to the onset of a shitty illness I have had to cancel this gig. Sad times.

lockside

The nice folks at Plugged in Switched On have put me on for a feature slot at their new venue, the Lockside Lounge next Weds. Really up for this having not done a gig since December. I’ve written a raft of new songs since 2010 broke, drawing on that inexhaustible source of inspiration, as DL Grant would put it, heartbreak.

Come along and cheer or jeer… I’ll be taking the songs out of my bedroom to see what Camden Town has to say about it.

Sat 28th Nov, 4PM-8PM

BCBar

Word! I’m back busking for SolarAid again. The Big Chill Label is releasing a new compilation this month and I’m very happy to have a track featured thereon. 50% of the profits from the album, will go directly to SolarAid. Deets on where to listen and buy shall be made clear as they become apparent to me!

To celebrate the launch we’re having a bash at the Big Chill Bar with several of the artists including moi giving you thirty minutes of their music-time if you have the inclination.

Read what the people themselves have to say about it on bigchill.net. I am proud to be involved in such a thing and also excited about the idea of having my first song released. Happy times.

29th October @ The Duke of Wellington

The Duke of Wellington

Feels like I’ve not done any gigs for yonks to be honest, but warmed up with a really nice little gig for the Tabarnak crew at the Crown and Goose. For the ampless, micless gig the audience were perfectly silent and listened to every note. I hope the same kind of warmth can happen next Thurs at The Duke of Wellington on Balls Pond Road. Deb and I will be helping the pub kick off it’s first ever live acoustic night. Come on down and help pack the place out – should be a really nice gig. More info is available on the Facebook Event.

WIRED @ The Vortex

The Vortex

WIRED Festival at The Vortex Jazz Bar this Sunday gone, was full of goodness. I enjoyed watching lots of cool folks of the Stephen Long, Nick Mulvey and Fiona Bevan variety smashing it up onstage and also had a lot of fun playing my set despite menacing hangover over and troublesome microphone stand (either one is OK but not the combination). Played some new tunes which was all good but really just had a top time cavorting around Gillet Square with some of the best people in this fine city, I feel.

The Vortex

Big thanks to the TABARNAK IKTOMS and BOABABS crew for having me. Next stop is The Victoria Oct 21st. Smashy smashy smashy.
